My path to becoming a Creative Director wasn’t typical. I didn’t attend art school or follow the traditional channels. Instead, I worked my way up the ranks in the competitive NY advertising world.
Similarly, my creative approach isn’t the most traditional either. My love for skateboarding, hip hop culture, and punk music has significantly influenced my perspective. These subcultures have bold, expressive aesthetics and a DIY attitude that has had a profound impact on my approach to art and design.
My life experience has taught me that there isn’t just one route to success. Creative teams benefit from non-traditional approaches. As a creative director, my diverse interests and experiences enable me to bring unique perspectives to my work.
It’s not a complete surprise that I’ve found a home at BetMGM. Betting is a family tradition. I have fond memories of picnicking at Monmouth racetrack as a kid. My Abuela held weekly Baraja (three-card poker games) in her dining room late into the night.
What makes BetMGM the perfect creative home for me is how welcoming the culture is to diverse perspectives. Over the past four years, it’s been amazing to see ideas come to fruition and watch the company grow because of this open-minded approach.
During my time here, I’ve been part of the company’s explosive growth from a startup to a major player in the online gaming industry. It’s been an exciting opportunity to develop and implement innovative strategies that help BetMGM launch new global brands, attract new sponsors, and establish a leading position in the market. Our “It’s-On” campaign was a standout project for me. Working with Jamie Foxx, Vanessa Hudgens, Kevin Garnett, and the rest of our ambassadors was a blast, even though it was an intense project with super tight deadlines and lots of talent to manage. As a team, we pulled it off, and it was one of the best examples of cross-team collaboration that I’ve ever seen.
I’m extremely proud of what our team of writers, designers, animators, content creators, and producers has accomplished together to drive the evolution of our brand. The team is exceptional at generating innovative ideas, collaborating, paying attention to detail, working efficiently, and maintaining a positive attitude, even in challenging situations like tight deadlines and short turnaround times. Staying organized, taking breaks, and prioritizing self-care are essential practices for creative individuals to maintain their wellbeing and optimize productivity. We’re able to produce such amazingly fresh content because of the culture here at BetMGM. It empowers creativity and fosters an environment where diverse perspectives are not just tolerated but welcomed. BetMGM also gives us the flexibility and resources to prioritize our wellbeing, helping my team and me be at our best so that we can deliver the best!
