Real-time Innovation is a Win for All

Our mission at BetMGM is to make unforgettable moments in sports and gaming even more personal, powerful, and fun. My team is on the ground floor – constantly seeking new, innovative ways to use our marketing tools, improve our customer journey, optimize our player communications, and foster player loyalty. This is an opportunity to be creative because no one has ever done something exactly like this before! Through our promotional experiences, we can have a big impact on our players’ journeys and offer a true omnichannel experience using our loyalty program.

At the same time, BetMGM is growing, and our industry is evolving in real-time. That means decisions are often made rapidly. We might need to pivot quickly if we learn something new. Or we might need to provide a short-term fix while we build the full solution. We’re thinking strategically about the long-term and our future roadmap with a thoughtful, data-driven approach that invites feedback from cross-functional stakeholders.

As BetMGM has grown, so has our team. Hiring individuals of diverse backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and skillsets has enriched our team’s ability to think creatively and innovate. Expanding our team has allowed new perspectives to influence our decision-making, giving us an edge when it comes to innovation.

Operationalizing innovation requires consistency. We have a weekly team forum where I provide the team with wide-angle perspectives about our business, sharing context for decisions and aligning on priorities. Team members also share updates on initiatives they own. It’s an opportunity for anyone to speak up, ask questions, or raise concerns. This fosters a team culture that relies on each other, supports wins, and troubleshoots challenges together. We aim to be a team of people who break down blockers rather than standing in the way.

I’ve found this openness and support in places outside of my team, too. When I participated in BetMGM’s “Take the Lead” leadership development program, I had the opportunity to talk through leadership challenges with other managers and share my insights on team-building best practices with my peers. The program helped to reaffirm that my team and I are moving in the right direction for the future of BetMGM’s business and culture.
