Our commitments
BetMGM offers its players an array of responsible gambling information and tools, including the renowned responsible gambling program, GameSense™. Introduced by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation in 2009, GameSense has earned international recognition such as the World Lottery Association’s Best Overall Responsible Gambling Program (2010), and the U.S. – based National Council on Problem Gambling’s Social Responsibility Award (2015). In addition to being licensed at MGM Resorts International casino properties, the program has also been implemented by the Connecticut Lottery and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
When enjoyed in moderation and with a set budget in mind, gambling can be a fun and exciting form of entertainment.
Are there specific “limits” in place that dictate whether or not a person is a responsible gambler? Are there different “levels” of responsible gambling against which a person can measure themselves?
Unfortunately, not – we all have different financial and risk tolerances that need to be considered prior to engaging in the act of gambling. A fun gambling experience begins with self-awareness. Self-awareness begins with an honest assessment of your risk tolerance and expectations. The decision to gamble is a personal one, and each individual is responsible for their own actions.
A responsible gambler:
We’ve taken on the responsibility of molding a gaming environment that operates on three basic principles; informed decision making through GameSense, offering powerful RG tools to help keep players in control and providing supportive and empathetic service to our players.
Every player should know, understand, and practice the following tips:
To help players practice these tips, BetMGM is proud to offer its players GameSense information as well as an assortment of responsible gambling tools. With these tools, one can limit the amount of time and money they spend with BetMGM on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. BetMGM even offers players the ability to take a timeout from betting for three days up to a full year. All these tools can be found within the player’s account settings.
While the vast majority of players can gamble without negative consequences, for some, gambling can become a serious detriment to their life. Knowing the signs of problem gambling can help players recognize when it’s time to take a break and/or seek help.
Fortunately, there are resources to help you address issues related to gambling. If you or someone you know is exhibiting any of the above, take a break and consider calling the problem gambling helpline: 1-800-GAMBLER.
Over the years, we’ve worked with key stakeholders from the problem gambling community including academic researchers, responsible and problem gambling education providers, and fellow industry members to work collaboratively on key initiatives with the goal of ensuring a sustainable industry. Below are examples of this work:
